My name is Kelley Denz, I am the founder of Sitter for Your Critters. Pets are my passion and have always been a huge part of my life. I have owned dogs, cats, horses, parrots, chinchillas, chickens, cows, goats, and sheep. I love all animals and believe every pet deserves respectful treatment and kindness. I am pet first aid and CPR certified.
I grew up on a cattle ranch in Northern California. I thought I was going to become a veterinarian and volunteered at the local vet’s office when I turned 16. However, I soon discovered that I didn’t have the stomach for seeing animals suffer in pain or euthanasia.
I started to board and train horses when I turned 17 and continued to train horses until I moved to Chico to get my Bachelors degree. I fell in love with Chico and have never left.
I have had the pleasure of many animal-related jobs over the years including horse trainer, guide, farm/ranch work, gardener, direct sales and pet care. I have always loved to work with animals and am always researching and learning more about how to best care for pets.
My first pet sitting assignment happened when I was 9 years old. My neighbor had a cow, a dog and several horses that I cared for while she and her family were on vacation. I have been caring for friends and family’s pets ever since.
I decided to expand my business and in July of 2011, I quit my career in law enforcement and started Sitter For Your Critters. The wagging tails and looks of content on the faces of my new clients were proof that I had made the right choice to follow my passion.
Pet sitting is both challenging and rewarding; it is my dream job. After years of success, I am proud of growing this amazing business.
Kelley is devoted to providing her customers (both furry & human) with the very best that pet care has to offer. Kelley also supports Butte Humane Society and Chico Animal Shelter with donations, volunteering, and a team for the Bidwell Bark.
Kelley attended Chico State University from 1999 – 2001 and received her degree in Management Information Systems. She currently resides in Chico with her dog Sadie.
